When the old wisdom of books speaks to us, or when someone teaches us wisdom, we are not learning something new or being taught. Are we not instead merely being reminded of great wisdom that is in our DNA?
How to act, is already known by each of us. It is in our bones to know how to act. That is why wisdom is wisdom; it is timeless knowledge that we all know, yet forget everyday . It is remembering it and doing it which is the challenge, and which makes the difference.
When you hear old wisdom tell you better, or someone wiser than you in the moment telling you better, take that as a sign, not of your inferiority, but as your chance to concur and take action.
Why must we be so prideful and resist wisdom? Because we take it personally! We think it is confirming our stupidity for not “knowing” it or doing it, when in fact it is a confirmation of our wisdom that we understand it and know better. Not doing it is the problem. That is where we need our courage; when we have to do what is right in big or small moments.
Listen to the Old, listen to others who mean well and my know better, remember what you already know, and raise yourself to new heights by taking bold action.
