Money is not time

Time is money. We can always devote time to making money. However, all value in the world, all money combined, cannot buy back a trillionth of a second of time.

It is said many wealthy individuals who are in the twilight of their lives say that if they could trade their wealth for one thing, it would be youth. What they mean is time.

We know there will always be a chance to make money, and that we should spend our time “living”: exploring, sharing in new cultures, learning new skills, exposing ourselves to new situations. Yet, it is unfortunate we forget this and live for the almighty dollar, wasting away time for money.

There will never be another moment like the one before, or ones in the past. We will never get younger, have fewer memories, have less experience, be able to take back our mistakes, correct our regrets……time goes on and stops for no one. We will never go back, nor should we want to.

Instead let us look to the present moment, and spend our time well. For it is our most valuable asset and ally. Time well spent will always lead to peace, happiness, and strength of character. Time ill spent leads to difficulties.

Do we use it wisely and with discipline? Or do we waste it with quick desires?

Time is money. Money is not time.
