War, conflict, debate……any kind of contention is inevitable in life.
We can accept that, deal with it, and not struggle against the fact these tough situations will happen.
Unfortunately, many of us overstep our bounds in these situations, say and do things that are personal, meant to hurt, and our pride, ego, and wrath get the better of us. We hurt others, offend them, and they do the same to us.
If conflict is inevitable, we can do what we can to amend things. We can say sorry, and make peace.
If we act incorrectly our of pride, ego, wrath, etc., we can come back and apologize.
Is this weakness? It can be, if we do it out of fear and aversion to conflict, only seeking peace to not be uncomfortable. But if out of strength, willing to fight and content, yet, then recognizing we’ve overstepped our bounds and accepting the the errors of our ways, we seek peace for the right reasons.
If this cannot be done or is not done, how are relationships possible? How is politics possible? How do we ever move forward?
Fight, struggle, content, yet if you err and take it too far, have humility.
Say your sorry, and forge peace.
