“To put the world in order, we must first put the nation in order; to put the nation in order, we must first put the family in order; to put the family in order; we must first cultivate our personal life; we must first set our hearts right.” – Confucius
What are the ripple effects of our actions?
If we do what we know to be strong, our actions strengthen the world.
If we go against what we know to be strong, and make excuses, what can we expect the world to look like?
Do we want to strengthen the world? We must first strengthen ourselves. We save our souls and listen to the conscience that speaks to us. Not the fearful, social norm conscience….not the implanted conscience where today’s world or society tells us what is right and wrong. That is merely the prejudice of our time. Instead, let us listen to that same voice that we all hear, that our families, leaders, and philosophy – The Old – instills in us. Call it what we may, but we all feel a strong conscience, a strong voice that tells us we must do the hard thing, not the expected or easy or cool thing. The hard thing.
That is what setting our hearts right feels like? A strength as strong as the fusion of the sun, for that is what the heart is in its truth- a core of fusion that creates its own energy, sustains its mass, and creates conditions for life an growth and freedom elsewhere – in the soul and in the world.
In essence, be the sun in your heart. Sustain your own heat and mass and rule the solar system of yourself. Lift this world up, with what you can carry.
Then, with ourselves upright, we shall sense the path to set the family right. We set our families right, we set our communities and nation right. Then only then, with all nations having all citizens strong and true in their hearts, we will know a perfected social species.
Let’s get a little closer, no need to be perfect.
Until then, we’ve got some growing to do.
Start with ripple effects.
